About Mercedes
Mercedes Ruiz moves flamenco like a language — fierce, intimate, and unmistakably alive. As a performer she blends razor‑sharp technique with a deeply expressive presence, turning each compás into a story that lingers. Her stage work is at once visceral and refined, drawing audiences into the pulse of flamenco tradition while pushing its theatrical boundaries.
An accomplished artist, Mercedes has received major national and festival awards and has created and produced a dozen full‑length shows with her company, touring internationally on stages from Sadler’s Wells to New York City Center. She has served as a choreographer for the Ballet Nacional de España and been praised by international critics for her emotional intensity and inventive staging.
As a teacher, Mercedes translates that same intensity into clear, inspiring pedagogy. Her classes focus on musicality, footwork, posture, and expressive phrasing. She emphasizes confidence, musical understanding, and the joy of finding one’s own voice in flamenco.
Join Mercedes for classes that will sharpen your technique and awaken your performance instincts. Sign up for the workshop to experience her teaching firsthand and step into flamenco with purpose and passion.
